Small Things Dance Collective is a charitable incorporated organization (CIO) exploring a multi-disciplinary approach to participatory practice and performance.
This process nurtures a collaborative approach to dance-making, creating innovative audience relationships and developing inclusive participatory practice. The heightened sensory experience of the intimate encounter with people and place informs our work, which is process oriented and supported by our experience in improvisational, somatic and environmental dance practices.
Since 2008 we have been researching and developing this approach at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool. This unique collaboration has lead to thousands of bedside one-to one sessions with children and young people, two peer reviewed research articles, films about our work and the inaugural dance performances at the new hospital in 2016.
